Parent-Child Assistance Program (PCAP)
- Implementation Information
Scientific Rating: 2
"Supported by Research Evidence"
Pre-implementation Assessments to be given to organizations or providers in order to measure organizational or individual readiness:
- PCAP does not have a pre-implementation assessment tool, but it does have specific questions it discusses with interested parties to determine the 'goodness of fit' between organization/community characteristics and the PCAP model. These are:
- What is the extent of the maternal substance abuse problem in your organization/community?
- What are the key stakeholder community agencies and how well do they communicate and collaborate with each other?
- Describe the community agencies that are appropriate for and interested in housing PCAP (e.g., a health agency, a substance abuse treatment program).
- This pre-implementation information is included as a section in the PCAP e-manual (as of November 2009, it is being updated and expanded to be more comprehensive and user-friendly).
- The person who can assist in examining pre-implementation readiness is Therese Grant, PhD, email: granttm@u.washington.edu.
Implementation Tools for the program (e.g., implementation guides or manuals):
- As of November 2009, the PCAP e-manual is being updated and expanded to be more comprehensive and user-friendly. The manual will include descriptions of all program elements, examples, case study vignettes, clinical tools, a fidelity instrument, and evaluation instruments/forms.
- The person who can assist with access to the manual is Therese Grant, PhD, email: granttm@u.washington.edu.
Fidelity measures:
- There is a fidelity checklist of PCAP Core Components that has been used for a federally-funded PCAP replication project. An updated and expanded fidelity instrument will be included in the PCAP e-manual that is being updated, as of November 2009.
