QUERI (Quality Enhancement Research Initiative) - Implementation Approach

Brief Description:

The Veterans Affairs/Health Services Research and Development's QUERI (Quality Enhancement Research Initiative) works to improve the quality of healthcare for veterans by implementing research findings into routine clinical practice. QUERI is a detailed process for testing and implementation quality improvement and EBP in the Veterans Affairs (VA) system:

    1. Identify high risk/high diseases or problems
    2. Identify best practices
    3. Define existing practice patterns and outcomes across the VA and current variation from best practices
    4. Identify/implement interventions to promote best practices
    5. Document that best practices improve outcomes
