Andrea Hazen, PhD

Andrea Hazen is a consultant on the California Evidence-Based Clearinghouse for Child Welfare project and a Research Scientist at Rady Children’s Hospital. Her current work focuses on mental health screening, assessment, and treatment for children and families involved with child welfare services. She has published on mental health service use by children involved with public service systems, intimate partner violence experienced by families involved with the child welfare system, intimate partner violence among Latina women, and screening for depression, intimate partner violence, and substance use in the perinatal period. Dr. Hazen oversees the treatment outcome program for the Trauma Counseling Program and for the KidSTART Mental Health Clinic at the Chadwick Center for Children and Families and is the lead evaluator for 2 federally funded grants awarded to the Chadwick Center. She has expertise in standardized screening tools and assessments for mental health and trauma in children and adults.
