Motivational Interviewing (MI) has been rated by the CEBC in the areas of Motivation and Engagement and Substance Abuse (Parental). MI is a client-centered, directive method designed to enhance client motivation for behavior change. It focuses on exploring and resolving ambivalence by increasing intrinsic motivation to change. MI has been shown to be effective in improving substance abuse outcomes by itself, as well as in combination with other treatments. Since MI is highly rated on the Scientific Rating Scale, information on available pre-implementation assessments, implementation tools, and fidelity measures was requested from the program representative.
