Child Welfare Outcomes

The Child Welfare Outcomes list whether a program improves safety, permanency, and/or child and family well-being. They are based on available research evidence and listed after the introductory paragraph in the Relevant Published, Peer-Reviewed Research section on each program's description page. If the program is classified as NR (Not able to be Rated) in regards to the Scientific Rating Scale, there will not be any Child Welfare Outcomes listed. The descriptions of the Child Welfare Outcomes are listed below:

Safety: The research evidence includes studies evaluating measures relevant to safety.

  • Children are, first and foremost, protected from abuse and neglect.
  • Children are safely maintained in their homes whenever possible and appropriate.

Permanency: The research evidence includes studies evaluating measures relevant to permanency.

  • Children have permanency and stability in their living situations.
  • The continuity of family relationships and connections is preserved for families.

Child/Family Well-Being: The research evidence includes studies evaluating measures relevant to child and family well-being.

  • Families have enhanced capacity to provide for their children's needs.
  • Children receive appropriate services to meet their educational needs.
  • Children receive adequate services to meet their physical and mental health needs.

All programs on the CEBC are assigned a Child Welfare System Relevance level by the CEBC staff who examine the target population for which the program was developed and the goals of the program. For more information on Child Welfare System Relevance levels, please click here.
