Essential Components
The essential components of BrightLife Kids include:
- For access to the program, a parent/caregiver is always needed.
- Coaching:
- Optional for both the parent and the child to engage in this service
- Coach meets with the parent (and child, if applicable) for the coaching sessions
- Coach can meet 1:1 with a child 6 years and older but the parent must access the app and connect the child to the coach
- The coach asks the family questions to help the coach understand more about:
- The child's developmental and health history
- The child’s identity and experiences (e.g., quality of family and peer relationships)
- Their current care needs
- Their family circumstances and values
- The coach:
- Creates a structured care plan
- Sets goals collaboratively with the family to meet their unique needs
- The coach uses validated measures to track progress and adjust care when appropriate so that children and families can reach their desired outcomes.
- Digital Tools:
- Library of on-demand digital content for parents and caregivers including materials they can:
- Read
- Listen to
- Watch
- On various subjects such as:
- Managing tantrums
- Making friends
- Building self-esteem
- Getting kids to talk about their feelings
- Care Coordination with Coach Specialists:
- When a parent/caregiver joins the platform and completes the new patient questionnaire and/or when they complete an assessment where higher acuity care is indicated, that individual will be invited to book a session with a Coach Specialist.
- Coach specialists can refer members to a licensed professional or other services (e.g., food or housing support) in their local community either at the request of the member or because the child’s concerns require clinical care.
- BrightLife Kids utilizes a secure care coordination platform that uses the family's zip code to find local resources:
- These resources undergo continuous vetting:
- BrightLife Kids actively establishes and promotes their Affiliate Networks (AN) as their preferred service providers
- This is designed to ensure that BrightLife Kids fosters strong relationships within the local communities where families live
- If a member does not have an available AN or health plan coverage, coaching specialists help them to search for services in their community that may be able to meet their needs and provide guidance on how to advocate for their child’s needs with these services.
- Parents/caregivers always have access to BrightLife Kids’ self-service repository tool to search for licensed professional or other services on their own should they choose to do so.
- BrightLife Kids Communities:
- Online digital peer communities for parents and caregivers to connect, ask questions, and get coaching tips
- Moderated 24/7 to ensure a secure and safe online space
- Four age-group based communities and one for Spanish speakers
- Community Engagement Team:
- Works with partner organizations that are interested in introducing BrightLife Kids to families in their care.
- Partner organizations are invited to Information Sessions or 1:1 meetings with the Community Engagement team.
