Tellmi

The Tellmi digital mental health service (IOS/Android/web) provides early help for children and young people aged 11+ with all levels of need. Young people in commissioned areas have 365-day access to anonymous, age-banded peer support, which is 100% pre-moderated (reviewed by humans before being posted). Between 8.30am and 11pm, qualified counselors intervene preemptively and respond privately to any high-risk posts. Young people can also access 1-2-1 text-based Solution Focused Therapy as well as a Directory of over 700 resources, tools, and services. In addition to the digital service, Tellmi also delivers outreach activities such as peer support workshops in local schools and engagement campaigns which are co-created with young people

TF-CBT for Youth who have Experienced Trafficking and Commercial Sexual Exploitation

TF-CBT for Youth who have Experienced Trafficking and Commercial Sexual Exploitation (TF-CBT for T/CSE) is an advanced training for the use of Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) with youth who have experienced trafficking and/or commercial sexual exploitation and may have also experienced other traumas. This training outlines T/CSE-specific applications of TF-CBT PRACTICE components:

  • T/CSE-specific psychoeducation
  • Processing T/CSE-specific maladaptive cognitions in trauma narration
  • T/CSE-related safety concerns including risk of leaving placement [“running away”] and T/CSE revictimization
  • Strategies for addressing common T/CSE clinical challenges such as engagement and retention difficulties and significant emotional and behavioral dysregulation.

There is an emphasis on personal safety and supporting caregiver-youth relationships which are often particular concerns with T/CSE clients. TF-CBT for T/CSE can be used in an array of settings including clinics, homes, residential facilities, and in-patient units. This includes utilization with youth with absent or unavailable caregivers, those in foster care placements, and group homes, consistent with the many settings and circumstances in which youth who experience T/CSE are served.

Collaborative & Proactive Solutions

CPS is a treatment model that is designed to help parents/caregivers and children learn to collaboratively and proactively solve the problems that contribute to the children’s challenging behaviors, with the goal of improving family communication, cohesion, and relationships. It is made up of four modules that teach parents: (a) to identify lagging skills and unsolved problems that contribute to oppositional episodes; (b) to prioritize which unsolved problems to focus on first; (c) about the Plans framework—the three potential responses to solving problems: Plan A (solving a problem unilaterally, by imposing the adult will), Plan B (solving a problem collaboratively and proactively), and Plan C (setting aside the problem for now); and (d) how to implement Plan B with their child by gathering information from the child to get a clear understanding of their concern or perspective, defining the adult concern on the same unsolved problem, and finally having the child and adult brainstorm solutions to arrive at a plan of action that is both realistic and mutually satisfactory. The clinician actively guides the initial problem-solving process, however, the goal of treatment is to help the child and parents become independent in solving problems together. In general, parent(s) and child are in attendance at all of the sessions, although there are times when a clinician may feel that it would be beneficial to discuss certain issues with the child or parent(s) individually.

Solution-Focused Brief Therapy

Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) is a therapy model that asserts the importance of building on the resources and motivation of clients because they know their problems best and are capable of generating solutions to solve their own problems. Central to SFBT is client strengths and resiliencies, client's prior ability to develop solutions, and exceptions to problems. Discussion of exceptions and movement towards future adaptive behaviors allows the clinician and client to focus on solutions to the client's problem, rather than dwelling on the problem itself. The emphasis of SFBT is on the process of developing an image of a realistic solution rather than dwelling on the past manifestation of the problem, with the focus being on identifying past successes and exceptions to the problem in an effort to accomplish set goals.

Strengthening Families Program

The Strengthening Families Program (SFP) is a 10- to 14-week parenting and family skills training program for high-risk and general population families. It is unique because the whole family attends and practice new relationship skills together in family groups. SFP is designed to significantly improve parenting skills and family relationships, reduce child maltreatment, children's problem behaviors, delinquency and alcohol and drug abuse; and to improve social competencies and school performance. The program is designed to work with many different ethnicities and races. In addition, it is available as a Home-use DVD for school, behavioral health, and family services to use alone or with case managers. It can also be given to families to view at home.

Somatic Experiencing® (SE®) Model

SE® is a body-oriented approach to the treatment of trauma and other stress disorders. The SE® approach releases traumatic shock, which is key to transforming posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and the wounds of emotional and early developmental attachment trauma.

SE® supports regulation of the autonomic nervous system, which underlies every aspect of a person's physical, emotional, and psychological functioning. The applications of SE® are diverse. For example, by working directly with a client's physiology, SE® is designed to enhance the depth, effectiveness, and outcome of psychotherapeutic interventions focused on relational, developmental, and psychodynamic issues.

The SE® approach offers a framework to assess and support nervous system resilience and shift from fight, flight, or freeze states to a more flexible response. SE® provides skills and tools appropriate to a variety of health professionals such as mental health clinicians, medical providers, physical and occupational therapists, nurses, bodyworkers, addiction treatment professionals, first responders, teachers/educators, and others.

Aggression Replacement Training®

Aggression Replacement Training® is a cognitive-behavioral intervention that targets aggressive and violent adolescent behavior. The program consists of three components: Social Skills Training; Anger Control Training; and Moral Reasoning. The components are specifically matched across each week and integrated for content and process. Each week builds upon the week before. Clients attend a one-hour session in each of these components (meeting the same time and same day each week).

Cool Kids Anxiety Program – Low-Intensity Format

Cool Kids Anxiety Program - Low-Intensity Format is a version of Cool Kids Anxiety Program, a program that teaches children and their parents how to better manage the child's anxiety. The program aims to teach clear and practical skills to both the child and parents. The program is supported by manuals. The low-intensity format is designed to be conducted without any face-to-face contact between client and therapist. For younger children, parents act as the "therapist" and receive detailed instructions to help their child.

Seeking Safety (Adult version)

Seeking Safety is a present-focused, coping skills therapy to help people attain safety from trauma and/or substance abuse. The treatment is available as a book, providing both client handouts and clinician guidelines. The treatment may be conducted in group or individual format; with females and males; and in various settings (e.g., outpatient, inpatient, residential, home care, schools). Seeking Safety consists of 25 topics that can be conducted in as many sessions as time allows, and in any order.
